Ponce City Market

Location: Ponce City Market (2014)
Sears, Roebuck & Co. Store and Distribution Center (1926)

Date taken: June 5, 2012

This photo was taken on a recent tour of Ponce City Market. The building, originally built in 1926 as a Sears, Roebuck & Co. store and distribution center, is the largest in the Southeast at 2.1 million square feet. For obvious reasons, the structure has been a prominent fixture in Atlanta for many years. My father recalls visiting Atlanta in his youth and going to Sears with his dad and brother. They would head to the sporting goods department to check out the Ted Williams-endorsed fishing gear, among other things.
